Antique Georgian Paste shamrock brooch in a closed back setting, with stones that are SUPER SPARKLY! Tests as silver, might not quite be 925, but it's close. Closed backs, as is typical of Georgian paste jewelry, stones are bezel set, except for the middle rhinestone, looks to be a later addition. The stem is hand chased, and millegrained on the edge. The back is darkened, but I did not want to polish it. This piece has had a replacement back put on at some point, which was not uncommon, as these pieces were very expensive when made.Each high-quality glass stone is individually cut, and the facets differ. They are modified cushion cuts, and have some flea bites to the facets, on par with age. These stones have an unbelievable sparkle and resemble mine-cut diamonds. The settings are very deep, about 7 mm.The rollover clasp works great, and the pin back is in great shape. Really beautiful for your lapel, sweater, or for an Irish bride's garter or a groom's lapel.About 28 x 22 mm.
